Planned Parenthood Unplanned Closure of 24 Offices

by Cheryl Sullenger

WASHINGTON, D.C., August 23, 2013 (Operation Rescue) — Planned Parenthood offices across the nation have closed this year at a record rate, according to data compiled by Operation Rescue. At least 24 Planned Parenthood sites have closed in so far in 2013.

This number includes three surgical abortion clinics, three clinics that dispensed abortion pills, and 19 offices that referred for abortions.  Read more…

VIDEO: March for Life in Reading Draws Hundreds

.

Hundreds of pro-lifers spent their Sunday afternoon on May 20 attending the second annual March for Life in Reading, Pennsylvania.  The TFP Holy Choir of Angels Band provided rousing patriotic music for the two-mile trek as marchers made their way through the streets of Reading to their final destination, Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

Before the march even hit the pavement, several speakers exhorted those gathered to fight abortion as well as the HHS contraception mandate that especially targets Catholic individuals and institutions.

The sending forth speech was given by Fr. Paul Rothemel who gave his blessing. During this final address, a group of children gathered around the podium to take up crosses representing the millions of surgical abortions performed in America since Roe v. Wade.

The march passed by the Planned Parenthood center where some of those millions of abortions are performed on a regular basis.  It was a symbolic gesture, an act of reparation for the innocent lives lost to the horrors of abortion and the nihilistic culture from which it was spawned.  May Our Lady present our prayer before the throne of God and hasten the day when abortion will finally be made unthinkable in America.

Photos from March for Life 2012!

Here are some scenes from the 2012 March for Life!

TFP and America Needs Fatima were so happy to participate in the March this year.

The rain could not dampen the enthusiasm of marchers. I think that there must have been 300,000 people or more.

Duke Paul of Oldenburg (left, with the red cape and smile) joins the American TFP for the March.

The faces of the marchers express seriousness and resolution for the defense of the unborn.

Protest Pro-Abortion Speaker at a Catholic University

While pro-life Americans attended the March for Life in Washington, D.C., the Catholic Jesuit University of Scranton, Pennsylvania, is preparing for something unimaginable.

In fact, they have invited an avowed abortion advocate and former Congresswoman Marjorie Margolies to give the keynote speech at the University on January 28.

The bishop of Scranton, Most Rev. Joseph C. Bambera, asked that the invitation be withdrawn. Unfortunately, his request was rebuffed by university officials. Yes, his request was denied…

It’s unbelievable, but I still think that you and I can make a real difference if we peacefully protest and CALL the university today.

Sign your urgent protest NOW

I invite you to pick up the phone and dial 570-941-7500 right now.

Ask for Fr. Kevin Quinn, president of the University of Scranton and politely urge him to cancel the appearance of pro-abortion advocate Marjorie Margolies.

Your protest was successful last year when two Catholic colleges canceled pro-abortion speakers on campus.

Let’s do it again.

You see, after Ms. Margolies’ congressional career ended, her pro-abortion record only got worse, culminating in her position as Executive Director of the Women’s Campaign Fund, a pro-abortion organization dedicated to “dramatically increasing the number of women in elected office who support reproductive choices and options, from all parties and at all levels of government.”

How can a woman with such a pro-abortion record be invited to give not only a lecture, but a keynote address at a Catholic University, an institution that should be a cornerstone in the defense of innocent life?

This is simply mind boggling.

Thank you for defending innocent life.

Texas Teen Spared Forced Abortion – for Two Weeks

by Ben Johnson

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, January 9, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A Texas court has extended a temporary restraining order to prevent a 14-year-old girl from undergoing a forced abortion for at least two more weeks. Another court granted the motion in late December, after the girl’s lawyers say her parents physically assaulted the teenager in an effort to compel her to abort her unborn child.

Her legal counsel sought to have the order extended until the baby’s birth. Instead, on January 4, Judge Missy Medary of the 347th District Court appointed a guardian ad litem, a counselor who will advise the court what he deems to be in the girl’s best interests at a hearing on January 19. The judge will make a final determination at that time.

Stephen Casey, vice president and chief counsel of Texas Center for Defense of Life (TCDL), and TCDL President Greg Terra are representing the teen.

Casey told LifeSiteNews.com that a forced abortion such as this is “a highly underreported type of situation that pregnancy resource centers experience all the time.”

He and Terra launched their nonprofit shortly after defending a 16-year-old girl, whom Casey says was literally dragged ”across the sidewalk by the belt, leaving her bloody” as she was led to two Austin-area abortion clinics against her will. She won a restraining order from the District Court of Travis County in late 2010.

Since that initial case the two have been contacted by lawyers in Kansas City and Pittsburgh to assist in similar lawsuits.

In another case, eyewitnesses say abortion workers physically prevented a young, black teenager from leaving Affiliated Medical Services, a Milwaukee-area abortion clinic, in November. They estimated the girl was between 11 and 14 years of age.

Casey said pregnancy resource centers regularly tell them, “You were just one abortion appointment too late. The girl didn’t know, and she acquiesced and went through it.”

He predicted the number of cases will surge as women – not just young mothers – learn that they have an alternative. “When you don’t know you have any rights, you just acquiesce and give up without a fight,” he said.

Contrary to media portrayals, retraining orders do not bar all contact between parties in a case such as this; they only prevent parents from forcing their daughters to discuss abortion with them. “We don’t want to destroy families,” Casey said. “We want to protect the rights of these mothers to carry their children to terms. Roe works both ways.”

However, it is not clear the courts will always side with the mother. The Population Research Institute cited a January 2004 court ruling, Jane Roe II vs. Aware Women Center for Choice, Inc., as proof that some judges will allow a forced abortion to continue, if they believe it is necessary to “protect the health of the mother.”

TCDL provides its legal services pro bono throughout the state of Texas. Casey said those outside the state should contact the Alliance Defense Fund.

The firm has been asked to testify about pro-life legislation, defend medical professionals’ conscience rights, and represent pregnancy resource centers. Casey told LifeSiteNews.com that he and Terra hope to dedicate themselves to the cause full-time.

“It’s God call on our lives,” he said.

Video: Reversing Abortion in Mississippi with Personhood Amendment

On November 8 Mississippians will vote on Amendment 26. If the pro-life initiative passes, unborn children will finally be afforded the right to life they deserve starting at the moment of conception. Innocent life will be protected, not killed. The measure would also stop cloning.

Mississippi is the focus of attention as other states move to place similar amendments on the ballot that would also reverse abortion. As Rebecca Kiessling, a pro-life attorney defending personhood, points out: “If a majority of states legally recognize the unborn ‘as persons in the whole sense,’ then the whole Roe v Wade opinion collapses.”

To help the initiative, a team of twelve TFP Student Action volunteers jumped in a van and drove down to Mississippi, a 1,100 mile trip. Pro-Life Mississippi, Personhood USA and dozens of pro-life leaders from fourteen states have pulled together in a tremendous effort, working and praying for victory.

“Vote Yes on 26” yard signs are everywhere – at businesses, street corners, churches, and homes. Momentum to stop abortion is growing every day.

Mississippi Personhood Amendment 26
TFP volunteers rally support for the unborn in Mississippi.

On the Front Lines

In the Deep South, Mississippians are especially polite, hospitable and respectful. They firmly and overwhelmingly oppose abortion as well. “I don’t care what Starbucks thinks. I want to congratulate y’all for being here,” said a young lady who pulled off the road to greet us and take photos of the TFP campaign. Although the Starbucks establishment did not appreciate our message, and attempted to shut us down, many of their patrons at the drive through window honked and waved in support.

Countless others driving past the intersection, said, “I’m all behind you. I’m voting YES.” Were we preaching to the choir? Sometimes it felt like it, that is, until a pro-abortionist yelled something foul or nasty. One motorist, for example, blurted: “I know it’s killing. So what!”

1,500 Honks against Abortion per Hour

With big signs soliciting drivers to “Honk against abortion” and “Honk for life,” the average honks per minute hovered around 25. At every campaign site, approximately 1,500 loud honks rippled across the intersection. What a good stir it created. Many cars and trucks stopped to pick up pro-life literature. Others clapped, waved, or gave us a double thumbs up.

In Jackson, a woman gave the TFP members a thumb down. This motivated the car right beside hers to honk for the campaign and then gave thumbs down to the pro-abortion woman. A car-to-car exchange ensued until a green light ended the discussion.

In addition to the sign and wave campaigns at busy intersections, other creative methods were employed to get the message out. Pro-life literature was placed on the windshields of thousands of parked cars at numerous shopping centers. TFP volunteers canvassed neighborhoods, going door to door. The bagpipes helped. “I don’t agree with the issue,” said a lady surprised to hear bagpipes. “I ran into my living room to see where the music was coming from. The way you present your ideas trumps everything. It’s the best I’ve ever seen.”

Pro-Abortion Misinformation and Fear-Mongering

“Are you the people spreading this nonsense? I recently had a miscarriage and if this law were passed I would be prosecuted!” said a woman who found a flier on her car. When TFP member Elias Bartel calmly explained how her assertion was unfounded, she kept interrupting him. Every attempt to reason proved futile. Yet the woman only had to glance at the flyer to read, “I26 Will NOT cause women with miscarriages to be prosecuted. This rumor is both silly and cruel and is simply fear-mongering. Women were not prosecuted for any miscarriages before Roe vs. Wade, and Personhood does not make having a miscarriage a crime.”

Pro-abortion forces are desperately trying to derail the pro-life Amendment 26. In fact, Mississippi residents are receiving long distance phone calls from a center in far away Maine, pressuring them not to vote for the amendment that would protect innocent life. When we visited Jackson State University, we found a fair amount of confusion among college students. Although abortion is not popular, some students would rather keep abortion legal as an option for “unwanted pregnancies” rather than modify their licentious behavior.

Let us continue to work and pray so that the sin of abortion is completely eradicated from America. And may God bless Mississippi with a resounding victory on November 8.

Mother With Tumor Puts Unborn Baby First

by John Jalsevac

  • October 26, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) – When Sadie Stout found out at 6 ½ months pregnant that she had a potentially fatal tumor on her heart, she was given three options: undergo immediate surgery to remove the tumor, have an emergency c-section and have the baby and then have the surgery, or wait longer for the baby to develop before doing both.

Each of these three options carried significant risks, reports The Toronto Star, where Stout’s story first appeared.

Surgery to remove the tumor had a 30% chance of killing her baby, having an immediate c-section delayed the surgery to remove the tumor by precious minutes, putting Stout’s own life in serious jeopardy, and the same went for waiting longer.

Stout was given just 24 hours to make up her mind – and though she made her choice immediately, it wasn’t an easy choice to make.

She told The Star that friends and family urged her to put herself first, and undergo the surgery to remove the tumor despite the risks to her child. “They intimated that Stout could always have another baby if she were healthy,” reported The Star.

“They weren’t saying it meanly,” Stout said. “They were saying that I hadn’t met the baby yet, that I wasn’t attached. But even when I was pregnant, Bentley was my whole world. I would never choose myself over him.”

Stout made the decision to undergo the emergency c-section. Though her child would be born 2 1/2 months premature, the c-section provided much better chances of survival for him than undergoing the surgery to remove the tumor while still pregnant.

“I decided I would have him before doing anything with me,” she said. “I wanted him to have a chance to survive before me. There was no way I would be able to do the surgery while being pregnant knowing there was a chance he would die from it.”

Stout’s son Bentley was delivered healthy on September 24, weighing just 3 lbs.

Stout was able to hold her child briefly, before being prepped for surgery to remove the tumor, which happened 36 hours later.

The surgery was successful, and five days after that Stout was discharged from the hospital and given the chance to see her son again.

“I had so much ambition to be good for Bentley that made me get up and get better sooner,” Stout told The Star.

“I knew, in my heart, he would be okay.”

Abortion ‘more safe than giving birth’ says professor at Catholic College of Mount St. Vincent

College of Mount Saint Vincent
Will this blunder be
corrected?
Of all the tenets of Catholic social teaching, perhaps the clearest and easiest to grasp is the right to life, the respect and protection of all innocent human life from conception to natural death.

However, Bianca Laureano, Professor of Sociology at the Catholic College of Mount Saint Vincent, is actively promoting abortion inside the classroom.

As the Cardinal Newman Society recently reported, Prof. Laureano introduced a course this summer, titled “Soc of Human Sexuality.” Describing her course on a pro-abortion web site, Advocates for Youth, she boasts about her involvement in the abortion industry. Abortion is “safe, more safe than giving birth,” she affirms.

Bianca Laureano is also a registered volunteer for The Doula Project. The group’s web site states: “We offer our services to pregnant people having medication abortion (the abortion pill) and surgical abortion. We currently partner with Planned Parenthood Brooklyn and a Public Hospital’s Reproductive Choices Clinic.”

In addition to supporting the culture of death, Prof. Laureano also makes use of blasphemous “art” directed against the Blessed Virgin Mary in her presentations.

The question that comes to mind is this:

If the College of Mount Saint Vincent calls itself “Catholic”, why does it allow this anti-Catholic voice a platform from which to harm the faith? Let us hope that this abuse will be corrected with the swift termination of Prof. Laureano teaching assignment.

Is it too much to ask a Catholic college to act Catholic and stop allowing abortion promoters like Prof. Laureano in the classroom?

BREAKING: Obama Admin to Mandate Contraceptive, Sterilization Coverage Under Health Care Law

by Kathleen Gilbert

WASHINGTON, D.C., August 1, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Following recommendations by the Institute of Medicine, the Obama administration announced this morning that insurance plans will be required to cover contraceptives, which include abortion drugs such as Plan B and Ella, as well as elective sterilizations.

HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius in a news release included the drugs as part of an essential “preventive care” package. “Historic new guidelines that will ensure women receive preventive health services at no additional cost were announced today by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS),” she said.

The mandate comes after a massive, months-long push by abortion giant Planned Parenthood to establish free birth control for American women, a campaign strongly opposed by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.

“Pregnancy is not a disease, and fertility is not a pathological condition to be suppressed by any means technically possible,” said USCCB pro-life chair Cardinal Daniel DiNardo last month.

Polish Pro-Life March Triples in Size

2011_Pro_Life_and_Pro_Family_March_in_Poland.jpg
With the theme, “Poland appeals to the consciences of her inhabitants,” thousands of Poles took to the streets of Warsaw on May 29 for the Sixth March in Defense of Life and Family. The march was an initiative of the TFP-inspired Fr. Piotr Skarga Association for Christian Culture and the National Life Day Foundation.

A large crowd of nearly 20,000 shouted slogans in defense of the family and carried banners reading “stop abortion” and “grant every child a right to life.” Whole families, including grandparents, joined the march with great enthusiasm.

Delegations from several TFPs and sister associations came from the United States, Brazil, France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Lithuania and Estonia.

Dozens of priests and nuns stood out among the multitude. Several congressmen and leading personalities in Polish politics also attended.

This year’s march followed the success of a flash petition which gathered more than 500,000 signatures in only two weeks asking for a complete ban on abortion in Poland. It was delivered to the Legislative Assembly in April. “Today our nation is facing many difficult, social, economic and political problems,” the appeal reads. “However, the basic problem lies in the moral order.” reads the appeal to the congressmen.

Front Alley Abortion

Front_Alley_Abortion.jpg
One of the major arguments that feminists use to impose abortion upon our country is that women, especially poor women, are going to get abortions anyway.

By providing “safe” facilities to these poor women, we can prevent them from resorting to shady back alley abortion doctors, persons lacking the necessary skills, or environments lacking minimal medical standards. Such operations, they claim, were often botched and lead to the death, not only of the babies, but countless women.

It may be true that legal abortion may have managed to diminish the wildly inflated incidence of back alley abortion in America. However, this fact has exposed women, especially poor women, to a much more grave danger: the front alley abortion.

As bad as the back alley abortion is, the front alley abortion is much worse.

Front alley abortions are those legal abortion mills that operate normally and are open to the public. They have all the appearances of a legitimate business. They may even have nice sounding names like Woman’s Medical Society or similar misnomers.

These establishments have all the protection of the government since abortion enjoys legal protection under law. They also have the slavish support of liberals and media who see these mills as essential to “reproductive rights.” Government regulating agencies seem to be more interested in tanning salons than what goes on inside these abortion mills.

The appearance of these clinics in the front part of the alley, and not the back, gives them all the appearance of respectability.

Protected by the veneer of this respectability and the force of law, some operators have used these fronts as a shield allowing them to commit the most horrible acts with impunity. What goes on behind the closed doors of these front alley clinics can go far beyond anything in the back alley.

Of course, the most obvious case is what is now called Gosset’s House of Horrors, alias Women’s Medical Society, a clinic operated in West Philadelphia by Kermit B. Gosnell, M.D. According to the District Attorney’s report, Gosnell staffed his decrepit and unsanitary clinic entirely with unlicensed personnel, let them practice medicine on unsuspecting patients, unsupervised, and directed them to heavily drug patients in his absence. In addition, he regularly performed abortions beyond the 24-week limit prescribed by law. As a result, when viable babies were born, Gosnell killed them by plunging scissors into their spinal cords. He taught his staff to do the same. Meanwhile, government regulatory agencies turned a blind eye to blatant violations of health codes and practices.

Yet it seems Gosnell’s case is not the only one. Other houses of horror have been found. While most do not reach the point of Gosnell’s “House of Horrors,”the blatant disregard for any kind of standards seems to be a typical or systemic characteristic of front alley abortion mills. Indeed, violations of health regulations rules seem to be a common occurrence – and government failure to enforce the regulations as well. Consent laws are often circumvented by operators who secure abortions for minors. As the recent sting operations against Planned Parenthood have shown, many employees appear to have adopted the policy of failing to report abuse to the authorities. Many abortion doctors seem to have a hard time holding on to their licenses – and some workers never had them in the first place.

Just recently, the Texas Medical Board, for example, received complaints about the medical practices of twelve Texas abortion providers, called the “Dirty Dozen” by a pro-life watchdog group who claim to have documented violation of state and federal abortion laws. These front alley clinics were chosen at random and pro-life activists say that they found mishandling of private patient medical records, violations of consent laws, violations of the 24-hour waiting period required by law, improper disposal of biohazardous medical waste, the counseling of minors on how to flout parental notification laws, and more.

That is to say, behind the shield of the front alley abortion clinic some of the most horrific things still take place. Yet it is not surprising. The nature of the business of abortion is such that it brutalizes human sensibilities. In this sense, every abortion, front or back alley, is a tragic denial of our humanity and will lead to that which is inhuman.

A Voice for the Unborn in Boston

Before talking about our flash rally against abortion in Boston, I should mention that we campaigned in Pawtucket and Warwick, near the airport, yesterday. The support for traditional marriage was excellent. “Our newspaper got a call about you, so I decided to come out and see what was going on,” said a reporter. “The caller said you had to be a Catholic group because you are so well dressed.” He took photos and was impressed with the amount of honks for God’s marriage from passing vehicles. “You’re really getting a lot of support,” he said.

In the afternoon we visited parking lots and placed the flier, 10 Reasons Why Homosexual “Marriage” Is Wrong and Must Be Opposed, on parked cars at malls and shopping centers. It’s a good way to get the right information into more hands.

Opposing Abortion in Boston

Our host family in Fall River, Massachusetts, invited us to go with them on Saturday, the Feast of Saint Joseph, to Boston. Planned Parenthood was holding a rally on the Boston Commons to secure continued tax-dollar funding for abortion and the culture of death. Local pro-life leaders organized a flash rally at the same location to give the unborn a voice.

While crossing the public park, a woman intercepted TFP volunteer Zachariah Long. “For real?” she said sarcastically. “You mean to tell me that you’re pure?” Zachariah was somewhat puzzled. Who on earth was this woman and why was she asking him that question. But he promptly answered: “Yes, I am.” In a huff, she walked away. Exiting the van in haste, Zachariah did not notice that the pro-life sign he carried read: “Purity is the answer, not Planned Parenthood.” It’s an effective sign. Powerful. “Your sign addresses the crux of the matter,” stated a man who approached Zachariah.

Planned Parenthood Boston

How is abortion health care?

At least 650 abortion advocates showed up to hear a line-up of speakers rant about the “rights” of the abortion industry, although the word abortion itself was carefully avoided as much as possible. Terms like “reproductive health” and “freedom to chose” don’t have the same stigma. The pro-abortion signage also avoided the abortion word, although I did see a sign that read: “Abortion saves lives.” Go figure. What nonsense.

Prolifers in Boston

About 75 motivated pro-lifers, young and old, assembled nearby. The rosary was recited aloud in reparation for the sin of abortion. Hymns were sung. And TFP bagpipers played Amazing Grace in memory of the countless innocent lives lost to the culture of death. A variety of homemade “Defund Planned Parenthood” signs were most visible. The prayers and the music unnerved some of the pro-aborts.

Prolifers in Boston Rally

We met many fine pro-lifers who wanted to know all about our tour for traditional marriage in Rhode Island. Thank God, the voiceless were given a voice. Innocent life was defended. May God protect our nation from the sin of abortion as well as same-sex “marriage.”

Please keep praying for us. God bless you!

Catholic Marquette University Hires Senator with Pro-Abortion Record

Catholic_Marquette_Univ_Hires_Abortion_Politician.jpg
Despite his 100% pro-abortion record from NARAL, the former U.S. Senator Russ Feingold was invited to join the faculty of Marquette University, a Catholic institution, as a visiting professor of law. The event is understandably causing scandal.
sign_the_protest.png
According to the record, Senator Feingold not only supported the grisly procedure known as partial-birth abortion but also favors same-sex “marriage” and embryonic stem cell destruction.

However, Marquette Law School Dean Joseph D. Kearney attempts to explain the appointment away: “While I do not doubt that some of his views are controversial, or, still less, suggest that all of them are right, an institution of legal education is especially well suited to explore multiple dimensions of such issues.”

Students naturally look up to their teachers and teachers who support the killing of innocent unborn children – as is the case here–are inappropriate educational role models in any school, not to mention a Catholic university.

Feingold’s appointment seems to brush aside the words of Pope Benedict XVI to Catholic educators delivered at the Catholic University of America in 2008:

“Teachers and administrators, whether in universities or schools, have the duty and privilege to ensure that students receive instruction in Catholic doctrine and practice. This requires that public witness to the way of Christ, as found in the Gospel and upheld by the Church’s Magisterium, shapes all aspects of an institution’s life, both inside and outside the classroom.”

Please voice your peaceful protest politely yet firmly:

When Are Babies Subhuman?

Eugenics_Anencephalic_Fetuses_Subhuman.jpg
A well-known Brazilian pro-abortion activist and anthropologist Debora Diniz (photo) once wrote an article defending “selective pregnancy interruption (SPI)” that is, the murdering of babies with grave physical deficiencies. Her article gives the sinister reasons behind the struggle to de-criminalize this type of abortion.1

In a pedantic text in Brazilian Portuguese, Diniz states:

“First of all, anencephaly maintains its dominance among pathological conditions for its extreme clinical nature: the absence of the brain’s hemispheres. But in my view, this is not the one sufficient reason to turn anencephalic fetuses into metaphors of the movement to legitimize selective abortion.

Why? Because the so-called “selective abortion” is intended not only for anencephalic babies but for all those who abortionists define as subhuman. Diniz continues:

“The absence of the brain’s hemispheres, or in common language the ‘absence of a brain’ makes the anencephalic fetus a representation of the subhuman par excellence.”

By inferring that the anencephalic baby is subhuman “par excellence,” it is clear that there are presumably other “not so excellent” forms of “subhumanity.” Who are these subhumans? The noted activist explains:

“Subhumans are those who, according to the dictionary, are below the human level. Or, as Jacquard prefers, they are those inept to share ‘humaneness,’ the culture of human beings. Thus, anencephalic fetuses are some among the subhumans—those who failed to attain the minimum level of biological development required to enter humaneness…”

To make her point, Debora Diniz quotes the opinion of a noted progressivist priest:

“Fernando Altemeyer Junior, auxiliary pastor for Communications at the Archdiocese of São Paulo, in an article published in Jornal do Brasil on April 1, 1996, which said this about selective abortion in cases of anencephaly: ‘...Many renowned Catholic moralists have taken a stand in favor of this surgery in the specific case of anencephaly, for the fruits of this pregnancy are not human and therefore one cannot require the mother to accept the sacrifice of a pregnancy unable to give human life to a child destined to survive…’”

The anthropologist continues:

“Subhumans are those whose lives are bound to ‘fail’—as Dworkin, a liberal American jurist who studies abortion, explains—or those for whom, to say the least, the concept of life is inadequate. Subhumans are extreme human otherness, those not expected by the miracle of procreation.”

Even the handicapped would not escape “selective abortion”:

“... There is much greater life expectancy and that is precisely what unites an anencephalic fetus to one carrying a trisomy of chromosome twenty-one [Down Syndrome] and even fetuses lacking distal limbs as potential targets of SPI [selective pregnancy interruption]. It is a social idea of life backed, of course, by biological fullness, which justifies most requests for selective abortion.”

On reading such statements, how can one not think of eugenics—favored and “justified” during the Nazi dictatorship, though still not presently mandatory?

As society increasingly loses its Christian roots to a wave of paganization, there are all sorts of ideas that clash with the lofty virtues of justice and charity toward our deficient neighbors and we are gradually nudged toward a pseudo-scientific and Darwinist dictatorship in which only those whom the State deems “perfect” will have a right to life.

Good News: Madonna University Cancels Planned Parenthood Speaker

Planned Parenthood
Planned Parenthood
speaker was nixed
at Madonna.
Why would any Catholic university bring a Planned Parenthood speaker to campus?

Well, that's what students at Catholic Madonna University were wondering when the sign-language studies department at Madonna University, a Catholic institution, invited pro-abortion speaker Christine Gannon to teach a workshop on sexual issues.

Thank God, however, the event was canceled after good pro-life students on campus and TFP Student Action spoke up. The online brochure announcing the February 26 event was also removed.

Madonna University president, Sister Rose Marie Kujawa, confirmed the good news to students in an email:

"I wanted to inform you as soon as possible that there will be no speaker from Planned Parenthood at Madonna University (including the Orchard Lake or any other MU extension)," the email stated . "You can share this with our Campus Ministry students. I am sure this will bring relief to their parents as well. Thank you for your prayers."

Those who are inclined to thank Madonna University for canceling the pro-abortion speaker may contact:

Can't the Pro-Life American Be Treated with Civility?

Written by John Horvat II
About the only thing more certain than the fact that hundreds of thousands of pro-life Americans go out into the streets nationwide every January 22 is the fact that the official establishment media will ignore or belittle their efforts.

As activists nationwide gather on the date of the fateful Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion, they know they will not get a fair hearing. If media do print stories, they will generally minimize the numbers and passion of those who brave cold winter weather to appear in Washington and other capitals. Reporters will always find a few pro-abortion counter-protesters amid the pro-life throngs to present disproportionally “both sides” of the story. More often than not however, the media will simply ignore this groundswell of Americans who enter the public square to voice their concerns. It is as if there is an unwritten rule that this story be forever unwritten.

Such treatment speaks volumes of the state of the nation. There has been much talk about a lack of civility in our society. The blame has curiously been shifted to a lack of public discourse.

Yet, the March for Life and other such rallies are healthy expressions of a desire for public discourse. These are striking manifestations of Americans asking for a voice in the public square. This huge movement has converged upon Washington for 38 years, for example, without a single incident of violence in its whole history. With the greatest of civility, participants have been courteous, compassionate and prayerful. At similar peaceful events all across the country we see a cross-section of every major group in America–all without any violent rhetoric. They are ever younger and more enthusiastic. They are as American as apple pie.

All they ask for their effort is a fair hearing–a voice in the debate, some recognition and respect for their great efforts. They want the other side of the issue to be told. All they receive from most official media is to be ignored, belittled if not scorned. Pro-life Americans are blamed for creating a climate of hostility and hate for the “crime” of merely disagreeing with establishment media on these issues. They are unjustly condemned as guilty by association when crazed individuals (with leftist anarchist views) like Jared Loughner fire upon a crowd. That is to say, the pro-life American is treated like a second-class citizen without any civility in this one-sided debate which hardly qualifies as discourse.
